Do I have to set up an account to use the new Eerdmans.com?

You do not need an account to browse the website. If you want to order books through Eerdmans.com, however (and we hope you will), you will need to set up an account on Eerdmans.com. Here a just a few of the benefits to setting up an account:

  • Your shipping and billing addresses can be saved for future use.
  • You can edit your account preferences.
  • You can sign up to receive an Eerdmans e-newsletter.
  • Your ordering process will be expedited during subsequent visits.
I'm a longtime shopper of Eerdmans.com. Do I really need to set up a new account?

Eerdmans.com has undergone much more than a cosmetic facelift. It has been completely rebuilt from the ground up and is, in reality, a completely new site that just happens to use the same URL. Therefore, yes, you will need to re-register and create a new account the first time you place an order. After that, however, the checkout process should be smooth and easy for you each time you shop.

Does that mean that you no longer have my financial information and order history?

Not at all. Your Eerdmans account information and order history are safely tucked away in our database. However, for security reasons, that information is not automatically available to the new website. Only after you have first created a secure personal account on the new website can we link your web account to the account information stored in the database.

I've always received a discount when I've shopped the website before. How can I go on getting this?

Not all of our discounts are available through Eerdmans.com, but several are.

If you are an educator or are engaged in professional ministry, simply choose "teacher or professor" or "pastor or church" as your login role when you register for your new Eerdmans.com account to begin receiving your discount immediately. (If you have already created an account without choosing a login role and would like to update it to receive your discount, please email webmaster@eerdmans.com). If you are not an educator or a minister, please choose "none."

If you represent a library or bookstore and would like to receive (or continue to receive) one of the discounts we offer to business customers, please contact customerservice@eerdmans.com, call one of our helpful customer service representatives at 1-800-253-7521, or fax 616-459-6540 to place your order.

I already have a credit account with Eerdmans. Can I use this to buy books through the website?

Yes. If you already have a credit account set up with us and would like to use it to shop Eerdmans.com, please contact customerservice@eerdmans.com after you register but before placing an order. We will then authorize your account to use our convenient "bill-to" option, and it will be available for you the next time you log in to the site (and every time thereafter).

I'm a frequent shopper and would like to set up a bill-to credit account with Eerdmans.com. How can I do this?

Simply fill out a credit application or church credit application and mail, fax (616-459-6540), or email it to us (creditmanager@eerdmans.com). When you write, be sure to mention your Eerdmans.com account username and that you would like to request the online bill-to option. We'll be in touch!

Why is my Eerdmans.com order reference number so long?

This number is what is called a Globally Unique Identifier (GUID). It is the Internet standard for unique identification numbers. The eerdmans.com database server generates this number whenever a new shopping cart is created. This guarantees that each shopping cart can be uniquely identified.

How do I change or cancel an order I placed on Eerdmans.com?

If you decide to change or cancel your Eerdmans.com order after you've submitted it, please call our customer service department at 1-800-253-7521 or 616-459-4591 or e-mail at customerservice@eerdmans.com for assistance.

The book I ordered was placed on back-order. When will it be shipped?

To find out when a book will be shipped, please check the book page for the book you ordered. On the line below the price, there should be an expected ship date. If you have any further questions about your order, please contact customerservice@eerdmans.com.

Can you help me locate an out of print book?

Sorry. "Out of print" means we don't sell the book anymore (though it may still be available in used or new bookstores, including Eerdmans Bookstore). Don't despair! Many previously out of print Eerdmans books are now seeing new life as Books on Demand or as e-books, and many more are on their way to an electronic re-release.

Are any of your books available in electronic format?

Yes, many of our titles can be purchased as e-books, though not through Eerdmans.com. At present, we offer e-books through Amazon's Kindle Store and the Google eBookstore, and we are working to make our books available through other online e-book retailers as well.

Do you sell damaged books at a high discount?

Eerdmans.com doesn't, but the Eerdmans Bookstore does. If you're in the Grand Rapids area, you can stop by and browse our large collection of discounted "slightly blemished" books, or contact the bookstore directly (616-234-0532; bookstore@eerdmans.com) to ask about availability and shipping options.

How do I return a book?

Within 30 days of receipt of your order, you may return any book in its original condition for a full refund (or credit to your account). Please read our returns policy for more information.

What are Print on Demand (P.O.D.) books?

Print on Demand books are books that are printed specifically for you. A high-speed digital printing press produces books in any quantity, as few as one at a time. P.O.D. books can be ordered, printed, and shipped in days or weeks, not months.
