A book on demand is a book that is printed specifically for you. A high-speed digital printing press produces books in any quantity, as few as one at a time. Because of this remarkable technology, a book can be ordered, printed, and shipped in days or weeks, not months.

Why does Eerdmans offer books on demand?
There are many titles that cannot be kept in print using the traditional publishing model. Books on demand technology enables Eerdmans to supply out of print books that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to find.
Are books on demand the same as the original book?
The content is identical. There may be negligible differences in paper type and cover image quality.
How do I order?
Books on demand can be ordered through eerdmans.com or through any of our standard ordering options. To view ordering options, please visit How to Order.
Are there any extra charges?
Books on demand are subject to a $3.00 handling charge per order. Thus orders with multiple book on demand titles will still only have one $3.00 handling charge.
Do discounts apply?
Yes, standard professional, library, and bookstore discounts apply.
Are books on demand available as examination or preview copies?
Yes, books on demand are available as examination copies for possible textbook use and as preview copies for possible church study use.
Why does it take 1-2 weeks to ship?
Books on demand are printed and shipped from a special facility. Sometimes this facility experiences a high level of demand; Eerdmans cannot predict this. Therefore, while we estimate one to two weeks, it may occasionally take longer.
Are books on demand shipped directly from Eerdmans?
For your convenience, your book ships directly from the printer. Please note that we cannot make special shipping arrangements or accept collect shipping.
How will I be billed?
Eerdmans must bill books on demand separately from orders that are shipped from our warehouse, resulting in separate invoices or charges. If we must split your shopping cart into separate orders, you will be notified of each charge separately by email.
May I return a book on demand?
Book on demand titles are not returnable unless defective.
What if my book on demand is defective?
If the book on demand title you received is defective, please call customer service at 800-253-7521.
What if the book I am searching for is not in the Book on Demand program?
It may be possible to add an out-of-print title to the Book on Demand program with a minimum order of 15 books. To inquire regarding this
