November 11, 2008 – The New York Times Book Review has released their list of the “Best Illustrated Children’s Books of 2008” – a list featuring ten titles, which are chosen by a panel of judges from among several thousand books published that year.
Among the top ten books is A River of Words: The Story of William Carlos Williams written by Jen Bryant and illustrated by Melissa Sweet. This is the second time a title illustrated by Melissa Sweet has been included on this list.
A River of Words is a picture book biography in which Jen Bryant's engaging prose and Melissa Sweet's stunning mixed-media illustrations celebrate William Carlos Williams, America's beloved doctor-poet, whose poems about ordinary, everyday things have inspired readers of all ages.
