DESCRIPTION
The second installment in a wide and deep constructive theology for our time

In this book Pentecostal theologian Veli-Matti Kärkkäinen develops a constructive theology of triune revelation and the triune God in dialogue with Christian tradition, with contemporary theology in its global and contextual diversity, and with other major living faiths.

Kärkkäinen's Constructive Christian Theology for the Pluralistic World is a five- volume project that aims to develop a new approach to and method of doing Christian theology in a pluralistic world at the beginning of the third millennium. With the metaphor of hospitality serving as the framework for his discussion, Kärkkäinen engages Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism in sympathetic and critical mutual dialogue while remaining robustly Christian in his convictions. Never before has a fullscale doctrinal theology been attempted in such a wide and deep dialogical mode.

REVIEWS
Theology
“The posture of Kärkkäinen’s theology exhibits a remarkable beauty, skill and breadth.”
Eleazar S. Fernandez
--United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities
"Truly an amazing work. One cannot help but be amazed at Veli-Matti Krkkinen's breadth and depth of knowledge of the Christian and other faith traditions as well as his ability to weave the various voices into a coherent, hospitable, and inclusive Christian constructive theology. . . . Trinity and Revelation is a major breakthrough in the field!"
Stephen Bevans, SVD
--Catholic Theological Union, Chicago
"Krkkinen's systematic theology, while firmly rooted in the evangelical theological tradition, is wonderfully and warmly ecumenical, frankly Christian but still open to the insights and practices of other religious ways, and widely inclusive of Christian thinkers from all contexts and cultures. This is a new kind of theologizing, one done in a postmodern key yet remaining faithful to the treasures of our premodern and modern past. Krkkinen's breadth of scholarship is amazing. I will await the next three volumes in this groundbreaking project with considerable impatience."
Frank D. Macchia
--Vanguard University
"While not neglecting his rootedness in the Christian faith, Krkkinen casts a fresh light on the topics of revelation and Trinity by opening up the conversation to the challenges of religious pluralism. The global reach of this theology is implicitly `pentecostal' in the broadest and richest sense of the term."
International Bulletin of Missionary Research
"Krkkinen interacts with a vast number of interlocutors, always critiquing and reshaping their logic and arguments. . . . His style demands very close reading. Once his voice is heard, however, it pays off handsomely."
Ecumenism
"Krkkinen engages Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism in sympathetic and critical mutual dialogue while remaining robustly Christian in his convictions."
