About the Books
A Star Shines Through
When war forces a young refugee and her mother to make a new home in a foreign place, they experience the long process of healing and the power of art to bring hope and belonging. This tender, sensitive picture book was inspired by the author’s experience leaving Russia after the start of the Ukraine War.

On the Edge of the World
Vera and Lucas live with their families on opposite ends of the world—Vera on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula and Lucas thousands of miles away on the coast of Chile. Both enjoy reading, playing, and exploring the outdoors, but they long desperately for a friend to join them. One evening, they each head to their local beach, blink their flashlights into the dark, and discover a surprising response that makes the edge of the world a little less lonely.
