Heiko Oberman

(1930-2001) Former Regents Professor of History and director of the Division for Late Medieval and Reformation Studies at the University of Arizona. A native of The Netherlands and an ordained minister, Professor Oberman was considered the pre-eminent Dutch Calvinist authority on late-medieval theology. He was the author of many well-received books on the Reformation, including the 1982 biography Luther: Man Between God and the Devil and the three volume set on the Reformation: The Dawn of the Reformation: Essays in Late Medieval and Early Reformation Thought, The Impact of the Reformation: Essays, and The Reformation: Roots and Ramifications.
